Due Torri Hotels kick off ‘Talenti,’ Italian 'Ted Talks'

 VERONA -- ‘Talenti’ (Talents) is “creating a series of meetings that can convey positive thoughts,” said Silvano De Rosa, Director of the Due Torri Hotel, as he introduced a ground-breaking event in this historic city in the Veneto region made famous by William Shakespeare. The idea is to provide a platform to share the experiences of some of the most influential and talented figures on the Italian business scene. The speakers were made up of “successful entrepreneurs both men and women.”

 In Verona, the three main speakers were Adele Biondani, President of the Veneto Food Bank; Silvia Nicolis, President of the Nicolis Museum, and Giordano Riello, President of the Giordano Riello International Group.

 Pierluigi Magnante, Deputy Director General of Confindustria Verona, gave a positive overview of Verona’s economic strengths. “We have a strong manufacturing sector, an agricultural sector characteristic of our country, and a logistics presence typical of our province.”

 Adele Biondani, who serves as the president of the Banco Alimentare del Veneto, spoke about a “Value Multiplier.” She shared personal stories of people that donate time to her foodbank and the recipients. Then, she spoke about food companies who have to store products due to labeling mistakes or market conditions. She built relationships with these companies to get these products to the people in need.

 She finished her talk by proposing and answering a question. “Tomorrow I will look back at my talents, my company and my time. What is the factor I want to bring into play?” She answered, “To ensure that my future continues to generate value.”

 Silvia Nicolis shared about “Identity,” speaking about her experience and vision that guides the Nicolis Museum. Remembering where you came from and what you built helps you make more informed decisions.

 The Museum is based on the collection of her father, Luciano Nicolis, who cofounded the museum with her in 2000. The collection contains over 300 classic cars and motorcycles along with other historical items. Some interesting pieces include the DeLorean from the film “Back to the Future” and a 1929 Alfa Romeo, considered a masterpiece in the automotive world.

 Giordano Riello cast aside his prepared speech and shared a family story from the heart about visiting his grandparents when he was younger. “Discontinuity” is the term his grandfather introduced him to as he began to teach him about the family business. Before joining, each family member is required to start their own business. This path provides a perspective that can’t be handed down.

 Giordano started Nplus, a deep-tech company that helps manage the safety and vulnerability of infrastructures around the world, including the Duomo in Milan. UNESSCO just recently requested their services to monitor the Cathedral of Saint Sophia in Kiev.

 The speakers were followed by an engaging performance, “The Luxury of Feeling at Home,” by social media actress Tiziana di Masi. She was able to emphasize the importance of being sustainable.

 The evening concluded with a sunset aperitivo on the roof of Due Torri with views of the Duomo and the Basilica of Sant Anastasia.

 The event was hosted by the Hotel Due Torri that is located steps away from Juliet’s famous balcony. Constructed in the 14^th century and converted into a hotel in 1674, the building has seen its share of history.

 Notable past guests include Mozart, Goethe, and in more recent times, Giulio Andreotti and Margaret Thatcher. The five-star hotel includes 89 rooms, and its rooftop bar and restaurant boasts some of the best views in the city.

 The event was also supported by BPER Banca, Masi Winery and Artist Simona Ragazzi who designed the awards presented to the speakers.

 The Verona Talenti will be followed by three other programmes hosted by Due Torri this autumn, in Bologna at the Grand Hotel Majestic, in Florence at the Bernini Palace Hotel, and in Genoa at the Bristol Palace Hotel.
