Family launches urgent appeal to fund life-saving cancer surgery for Georgian mother

Rome — A family has launched an urgent fundraising appeal to support a 36 year old Georgian mother diagnosed with bone cancer, as they race to secure the funds needed for life saving surgery and treatment.

Qristine Bochorishvili, a mother of a six year old child, requires at least €40,000 for a complex operation, medical implants and ongoing care that are not covered by public healthcare. Her relatives say the situation has left the family facing an overwhelming financial burden.

“Access to life saving healthcare should never be in question,” her cousin, who is organising the fundraiser, said. “Yet we find ourselves in a position where urgent treatment depends entirely on whether we can raise the necessary funds.”

The appeal comes at an already difficult time for the family. Qristine’s husband has only recently completed treatment for prostate cancer. Although his therapy was successful, it has left the household under severe financial strain.

Supporters say the combined impact of two serious illnesses has created an unsustainable situation, particularly given the lack of public funding for the required procedures.

The fundraiser is being managed directly by Qristine’s cousin, who has pledged full transparency regarding donations and their transfer for medical expenses.

“Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference,” the organiser added, appealing to the public for assistance.

The case highlights ongoing disparities in access to healthcare funding, particularly for patients requiring specialised or high cost treatments not fully covered by national systems.

For Qristine and her family, the hope now rests on the generosity of donors willing to help secure the treatment she urgently needs.
