Red Cross driver under investigation on charges of administering lethal injections

BOLOGNA– A red cross ambulance driver has been placed under investigation on charges of administering lethal injections to at least five elderly people he was transporting to hospital so as to earn commission on their corpses from a funeral parlor, police sources said.

The suspect has continued to declare his innocence and is willingly speaking to journalists. He spoke to Ore 14 on Raidue saying "I consider myself completely innocent. When I received the notice of investigation in November, my world fell apart. From the very first moment, I brought documentation.” he continued “After so many years, so many operations, we're talking about five people out of 200 in a year; these are the numbers. I hope the Prosecutor's Office sheds light on the matter," he added. When asked if he was worried, he replied: "No, do no harm, have no fear."

According to a report by il Fatto Quotidiano, the investigation could expand further into three more additional deaths which are reportedly unclear. The prosecuting office is evaluating four bodies of elderly people who died between February and October of 2025. An autopsy has been ordered on an 85 year old woman who died on November 25. Her family is looking for clarification on the details of her death.

The suspect has been suspended by the Red Cross as a precautionary method whilst the investigation is under way. The investigation by the prosecutors office is currently being handled with the utmost confidentiality.
