WFP Haiti croneyism underlines power of 'feminist African mafia' inside UN

 ROME – Despite budget cuts by the Trump administration, many WFP staffers are delighted at the US president’s stand against DEI and what they see as the hope it holds for return to sanity in the face of nepotism of the kind exposed by Italian Insider at the WFP Haiti country office, WFP sources say. “Some of the DEI is very sensible, even logical and fair,” a veteran WFP senior executive said, “but it has got out of control and has been hijacked for their own ends by groups such as the feminist African mafia.”

 The executive, speaking on condition he not be named added that “they often refer to those who actually built WFP and used to make it run effectively as ‘white, male and stale.’ And these gentlemen were often the ones advocating for advancement of such developing country women. Now tell me where the racism is …”

 “When I read the name Helen Kamau as the deputy (country director for WFP in Haiti), it didn’t surprise me at all … She was a finance office but regarded as incompetent. Still she is black and female in today’s WFP, so she progresses.”

 “It seems to have been an unspoken rule in yesterday’s WFP that deputies (or other senior heads of units) not be the same nationality as the CD for obvious reasons. Nepotism. But this is no longer observed. Particularly with African nationals but even with the Japanese.”

 “The story about the driver opening the door and carrying bags rings so true worldwide. Many of these CDs necessarily move among the diplomatic community and have to deal with ministers for fundraising and facilitation etc”

 “They forget they are supposed to be humble humanitarians and take on this Ambassadorial or ministerial persona with all the privileges – being driven around dusty capitals, flags flying in shiny new Landcruisers with blackened windows and a uniformed driver, all paid for by donors.”

 “A lot of this ‘black female power’ stuff comes from Amina Mohammed, the Deputy SG. Her appointment and the agenda she brings with her may have been part of the deal Gutteres struck with the G77 to get his job.”
