Sinner defends ATP World Title in Turin

Sinner lifting the trophy

ROME – Jannik Sinner beat rival Carlos Alcaraz 7-6, 7-5 to defend his ATP Tour men's single's title in Turin. However, the Italian narrowly missed out on reclaiming the world number one spot, finishing the year behind the Spaniard.

Sinner became the fourth man to defend his ATP title, claiming the trophy without dropping a set the entire tournament. The Italian is unbeaten for 31 consecutive matches on indoor hard courts, a run which started in 2023.

It was the pair’s sixth final this season, with Alcaraz winning four of the last five. This, plus Sinner’s three-month doping ban, meant the Spaniard finished the year with more points.

Speaking after the match, Sinner said “It was a very tough match, but it means a lot to me ending the season like this. It's amazing.”
