Sinner shines in Paris to reclaim number one spot

ROME – Italian tennis player, Jannik Sinner, reclaimed the number one spot in the world rankings after winning his first Paris Masters on Sunday.
Sinner beat Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets 6-4, 7-6(4) to become the fourth player in history to win the Paris Masters without dropping a single set. The win marked Sinner’s fifth major title win of the year.
The Italian had previously been world number one for 65 weeks but was dethroned by his close friend and rival Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz earlier this season in September.
However, Sinner’s ranking as world number one will last for one week due. The Italian is set to lose the 1,500 points he gained 52-weeks ago for winning the ATP final, as the points work on a 52-week rolling basis.
Sinner and Alcaraz are set to battle to end the year in the number one spot at the ATP finals in Turin mid-November.
