Italian Foreign Minister Tajani condemns Russian attack on WFP convoy

ROME – Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, issued a statement on X saying that he “strongly condemns” a Russian attack on a World Food Programme convoy in Ukraine on Tuesday. The convoy included at least one Italian official.
The UN said that its convoy of four vehicles “clearly marked as belonging to the UN” was attacked by Russian drones on Tuesday in the partially occupied southern Kherson region of Ukraine, while trying to deliver aid to the town of Bilozerka. The UN reported that no one was harmed in the attack despite two trucks being damaged and set on fire.
Foreign Minister Tajani also confirmed that the Italian official remained unharmed. Tajani criticised Russia for “attacks on civilians, hospitals and now humanitarian workers” which he labelled “unacceptable.”
He called on Russia to “cease the violence and start acting responsibly.” Tajani closed his statement by expressing his “solidarity” with the “UN, its staff and the Ukrainian people.”
