A winning start in Europe for AS Roma after 2-1 win

ROME - AS Roma kicked off their European campaign with a win away from home against French side Nice, boosting spirits even further amongst Giallorossi fans and players alike, after a rich run of form early in the domestic season. That good form translated onto the Europa League stage on Wednesday, as Gian Piero Gasperini's men notched up another win thanks to two quick fire goals shortly after half time, and a strong resilience to resist late pressure from nice.
A second win for Roma in four days, after their closelt fought derby victory against Lazio in the Serie A, this one will taste extra sweet as it is in the Europa League, and sets the team up for a positive campaign. They take all three points away from home thanks to goals from defenders Evan N'Dicka and Gianluca Mancini, with Lorenzo Pellegrini also carrying on his fine form, with an assist for the first goal.
Roma broke the deadlock shortly after halftime, through N'Dicka, who headed Pellegrini's cross into the bottom corner. Shortly after, former Liverpool man Kostas Tsimikas whipped another ball into the box, which found the head of Mancini, who placed his finish past the keeper.
A late period of pressure from Nice saw them grab a goal in the 77th minute through a penalty, but Gasperini's side managed to hold on to take home all the points. Spirits will be high within the Roma camp and amongst fans, as the team continue their strong start to the league in Italy, whilst also kicking off their European tournament with an excellent win.
