Survey reveals Meloni still holds top spot for voters with 37 percent

ROME - In the heart of the voters, the distance between the FDI and the Democratic Party is practically stable, with the government party holding just under 30 percent, ahead of the DEM at 21.7. percent. This is reported by Repubblica on news stands on Sunday, 21 Sept., they quote a Demos survey on the electoral orientations of Italians, on the eve of the regional elections.
The other parties also changed little: down Lega (8.6 percent), Forza Italia (8.4 percent), Azione (3.3 percent), Italia Viva (2.3 percent) and +Europa (2.0 percent). While the only growing party is the M5s (13.2 percent), reports Il Fatto Quotidiano.
As for the party leaders, Giorgia Meloni remains in the lead (37 percent) but with a drop of 6 points compared to the 2024 survey that brought her below the 40 percent threshold.
Giuseppe Conte (35 percent) continues to recover ground, while Antonio Tajani has lost 4 points. More distant Elly Schlein (28 percent) while Matteo Salvini advances (25 percent). Further back, but in a substantial rise, are the leaders of the Left: Nicola Fratoianni and Angelo Bonelli who have surpassed the former third position Carlo Calenda and Matteo Renzi.
