The Vatican Girl's brother to be summoned as graphologists reveal London documents may be fake

ROME - The commission of inquiry investigating the mysteries surrounding Emanuela Orlandi and Mirella Gregori has resumed its work after the summer break, reports Il Fatto Quotidiano.
A few days ago, the first hearing of this new phase of work took place, with the hearing of former deputy chief of the Mobile Squad Giovanna Petrocca. The former policewoman had asked to be heard by the bicameral commission, to which she confirmed Sabrina Minardi's version, which leads to the theory that the Roman criminal underworld of the time was involved, in terms of pure manpower.
According to this hypothesis, the Vatican citizen kidnapped in the heart of Rome on June 22, 1983 was hidden in a hideout in Via Pignatelli in Rome for a while before being handed over to a prelate at the gates of the Vatican, in the “street of a thousand curves”, by Minardi herself, who was romantically involved with Enrico de Pedis at the time.
According to prosecutor Giancarlo Capaldo, who led the second investigation, De Pedis carried out the kidnapping. The magistrate confirmed his hypothesis to the bicameral commission last year during his hearing.
Now, the commission led by Senator Andrea De Priamo will summon the Vatican Girl’s brother, Pietro Orlandi, to shed light on some documents. Orlandi confirmed that he will soon be summoned, as confirmed by the commission to his lawyer Laura Sgro.
The commission of inquiry wants to shed light on the London trail documents, to understand how much truth and reliability there is in these letters, which would lead to a scenario in which the Vatican citizen was segregated in the UK capital, at least until 1997, in a building belonging to the Scalabrinian fathers. It cannot be ruled out that these letters shown by Pietro Orlandi may not be authentic but could be forgeries containing elements of truth that cannot be ignored. This is likely why the commission wants to hear Pietro Orlandi again for a new hearing.
It seems that the decision came after a meeting with graphologist Sara Cordella, who believes that the documents are forgeries. The brother of the missing Vatican citizen opposed the graphologist's peremptory statements, writing on social media that “someone within the commission wants to bury the hypothesis linked to England. The problem is always the same: they want to look at the packaging and not its contents. Whoever created those documents inserted errors in form because the messages had to reach their recipients but be considered false by the public.”
The documents referred to are letters dated 1993 and sent by both the Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey and British Under-Secretary Frank Cooper to Cardinal Ugo Poletti, whom Carey asked to meet “to discuss Emanuela Orlandi's situation in person”. According to this lead, the girl was returned by her kidnappers to the blackmailed individuals, presumably a representative of the clergy at the time, who then transferred her to London.
These papers were delivered to Orlandi by an anonymous interlocutor who told him that he had managed the second phase of the kidnapping in London on the orders of the Roman criminal underworld. The man also admitted to being a former militant of the Armed Revolutionary Nuclei, but then he disappeared, and his identity remains unknown, or rather, the name he provided does not match his real identity.
Here is what the man wrote to Orlandi: “I did not kidnap Emanuela, I did not participate in the kidnapping. I live in the United Kingdom and I was the one who personally delivered some things to the accommodation where she was staying. But we were all terrified, threatened, no one spoke, speaks or will speak. I am writing with sweaty, trembling hands. Because I have children and grandchildren, and I would ruin everyone's life if I came forward. Me, like so many other people. The Vatican is the only one that should speak, but it never will.”
These messages also state: “Frank Cooper was Permanent Under-Secretary of State and also Chairman of Imperial College London, where Emanuela was hospitalised for her pregnancy. Imperial College ran St. Mary’s, which was the most important hospital in England. Cooper ran the hospital. Although retired, Cooper held a permanent position and continued to work in defence, but only in specific situations. Cooper had relations with Cardinal Poletti, who personally took care of her hospitalisation and everything else.”
All of this, the letters and statements from the former Nar member, coincide with what is written in the five sheets of paper containing the 1998 expense report sent to Giovanni Battista Re entitled ‘summary report of expenses incurred by the Vatican City State for activities related to the citizen Emanuela Orlandi.’
These five sheets were found by journalist Emiliano Fittipaldi in a safe deposit box belonging to the Vatican's Economic Affairs department. In this scenario, the statements made by a former marshal who worked as private secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Giuseppe Dioguardi, would also make sense.
The man recently stated that in the summer when Vatican citizen Emanuela Orlandi mysteriously disappeared, he saw a representative of the Vatican State urge then-Minister Spadolini to arrange a Rome-London flight from Ciampino military airport on CAI flights (aircraft used by the Secret Services) for only four people, with only the pilot and co-pilot on board.
“I remember that Emanuela Orlandi's name was mentioned in the context of ‘the investigations we have to carry out are not enough, now they are even asking for flights.’ But we will never know if that flight was for her,” he added in an interview with Rai Dioguardi.
It is still not known when Pietro Orlandi will be summoned by the commission, which, in the meantime, has scheduled a hearing with Marco Ansaldo, a Vatican journalist, for Sept. 18.
