Four mountaineers found dead in the Alps

 SONDRIO - Two Italian mountaineers, a man and a woman, died on Castore, in the Monte Rosa massif. Their bodies were recovered in the early Thusday afternoon by the Aosta Valley Mountain Rescue Service. The alarm was raised this morning after contact was lost with the mountaineers, who had spent the night at the Quintino Sella refuge. They were spotted during a helicopter flyover. The bodies were taken to Champoluc. The investigation has been entrusted to the Cervinia Finance Police.

 A hiker was found dead on Thursday morning in the mountains of the municipality of Val Masino, in the province of Sondrio. He appeared to have fallen down a cliff and the body was found by teams from the fire brigade and the Sagf-Alpine Rescue Service of the Sondrio Finance Police, who had been searching for several hours with the Carabinieri of Ardenno and volunteers from the Val Masino Alpine Rescue Service. The victim was a 61-year-old man who lived in Nave (Brescia). The body was transported to the morgue of the Sondrio hospital, where it is now at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

 In the mountains of Val Camonica in the province of Brescia, a hiker in her thirties died after falling during a high-altitude outing near the Festa Bivouac, in the municipality of Edolo. The alarm was raised shortly after the accident: the 118 helicopter rescue service intervened at the scene, but there was nothing that could be done for the woman and the doctor on board could only confirm her death. The men of the Alpine Rescue Service of the Guardia di Finanza are working to reconstruct the incident.
