‘Pick-pocket’ killed by train as he attempted to flee

ROME – Police were still investigating Tuesday after a man was killed on the Metro A allegedly fleeing from law enforcement, according to the police.
Witness reports stated that they had seen a fractured skull, a singular shoe and an arm that had been twisted in a disturbingly unnatural way with authorities confirming days later what had occurred on the metro A between Anagnina and Cinecittà around 8:40 p.m. on Saturday evening. Next to the body investigators found the stolen phone and wallet of a girl but have yet to confirm the identity of the man.
The current police hypothesis that has been reported by Il Messaggero is that the man, who was allegedly South-American in origin was a pick-pocket in flight who had attempted to flee along the tracks before being killed by an on-coming train. While nothing is being ruled out at this stage, it would appear that suicide was unlikely as the man had been found in the tunnel, having been hit from the side, as opposed to the front.
Law-enforcement was called by the train driver around Anagnina at 8.40 p.m. about the presence of a body on the tracks, causing chaos and delays on line A. The first reconstruction of the incident found that the man likely entered the metro at Cinecittà and was accidentally hit by the train, killing him on impact.
