Naples takes aim at Germany at international tourism fair

MUNICH- Naples continues with determination its strategy to intercept new foreign tourist flows, stimulating the growth of the city.

This time it aims at the German market and after its presence in Munich, at the Munich Tourism Fair (F.R.E.E.), now the Department of Tourism of the Municipality of Naples together with its DMO (Destination Management Organization), aims at the ITB in Berlin, the largest global tourism fair, scheduled from March 4 to 6. The target is clear: to consolidate Naples' position on the German market by offering a complete experience: from culture to gastronomy, from shopping, including luxury, to experiential adventures. Naples has a very rich tourist offer and intends to narrate it to a curious public eager to discover new destinations or new reasons to become passionate.

Germany, after all, has already demonstrated a strong bond with the city. The data speaks for itself: 2023 was a crucial year with the Germany in 4th place for foreign presences in the city and an average stay of 5 nights in accommodation facilities. This shows that German visitors not only visit Naples, but choose to stay longer, to immerse themselves in its unique atmosphere. Furthermore, Naples has become the 3rd favorite destination for Germans in Italy for airport arrivals, immediately after Rome and Milan. As many as 3% of travelers departing from Frankfurt chose Naples as a destination, confirming a growing interest in the city.

Naples is experiencing a real tourism boom and Germans play a key role in this development. Teresa Armato, Councilor for Tourism of the Municipality of Naples, enthusiastically emphasizes the importance of this connection: "Germany is a market we are particularly fond of and this is due to the type of traveler who comes to the city, culturally sensitive to the beauty of Naples, also facilitated by the numerous direct air connections with cities such as Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin."

To further strengthen this bond, the Department has been working for some time with the DMO through targeted strategies and a careful study of the needs of travelers, improving the tourist offer and hospitality, also focusing on forms of necessary and useful collaborations such as the one with the Landmarker photographers which started in November, producing suggestive images that tell the authenticity and beauty of the city. Another interesting aspect is the growing preference of German tourists for luxury experiences: exclusive hotels with a view of Vesuvius, private tours among the historical-artistic beauties, the local food and wine excellences. According to Ms. Armato, Naples is expanding tourist services, increasing information points and training staff, to provide a more personalized welcome and continue its tourist growth, particularly with German visitors.
