Small Abruzzese mountain town invaded by Tiktok tourists

ROME - Roccaraso, a small mountain town in Abruzzo, has recently experienced an explosion of tourism, seeing 220 coaches and over ten thousand arriving from Naples and surrounding areas on Sunday, according to il Mattino.
The extraordinary influx of extra vehicles caused long queues and travel times of 6 hours for the journey between Castel di Sangro and Roccaraso, a situation which has not been seen as the 80s.
The increase of tourists in the area is thanks to promotion of the cheap trips on TikTok, in which an organisation proposed trip packages that start from 20-30 euro per person, breakfast included and departures from Naples at 6:00 A.M.
The offer was first seen on Reddit but then grew much larger on Tiktok, in particular with promotion from Rita De Crescenzo, influencer, whose videos show people on the coaches dancing and singing.
This tourism boom has revived the old tradition of large group trips, which are now in Vogue again thanks to social media.
This has, however caused a crisis for local people, with the local Carabinieri, traffic police and Financial guard having to get involved with traffic control on Sunday. Only at 6:30 P.M. did the traffic situation finally return to normal.
The Mayor of Roccaraso, Francesco Di Donato, who had established a ban on parking on viale Napoli, where there is a small parking area, worsening the traffic on the stradale 17, commented that he hopes "to find a definitive solution to the problem" according to il Mattino.
