New opinion poll sees gap close between Meloni and opposition

ROME - A new survey conducted by Youtrend for Sky Tg24 has revealed a fall in the popularity of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's party, whilst the rival Partito Democratico, led by Elly Schlein, has registered an increase in supporters.
The survey concluded that only 3.3 percentage points now separate the two opposing parties, with Meloni's Fratelli d'Italia garnering 27.5% of the hypothetical votes (-0.8%) and the PD rivalling at 24.2% (+1.0%).
But it is not only the FdI that flounder in this new poll - coalition right-wing parties La Lega and Forza Italia have also seen a decline in support.
Giuseppe Conte's left-wing Movimento 5 Stelle also came out of the survey with fewer supporters than before, with an estimated 11.6% share, which is down 0.3% from mid-November.
