Two dead in explosion at Eni plant

ROME — Two are dead, eight injured, and four missing after an explosion at an Eni refinery in Tuscany Monday morning.
Police and firefighters are at the scene, 10-odd km north of Florence. An Eni spokesperson said that flames were confined to the site of the explosion and did not affect the depot's fuel storage tank farm.
A plume of smoke from the explosion was visble from surrounding towns. Law enforcement agencies suspended rail traffic between Florence Castello and Prato on the Florence-Bologna and Florence-Viareggio lines, per Trenitalia. Italy's Department of Civil Protection told all those within a five kilometer radius of the blast to stay inside with all doors and windows closed, to stuff vents and chinks with wet rags, and to avoid any food contaminated by air from the blast.
