Flying Scotsman McTominay keeps Napoli at the top of Serie A

Napoli celebrate their winning goal against Turin

ROME - Napoli are truly back to their winning ways after beating Turin 1-0. The victory means that Napoli stay at the top of Serie A, but their advantage remains very slim at four points with the Inter Milan, Fiorentina, and Atalanta having played one less game.

Yet again Napoli’s victory was thanks to the golden boot of new summer signing Scott McTominay. The goal came in the 31st minute of the match, with McTominay using some nifty footwork to control and then fire the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the Turin net. Napoli will be hoping to keep up this form, but their next match proves to be more challenging against fifth place Lazio.

The reason that Inter Milan and Fiorentina have played one less match than Napoli is because their game was suspended after Edoardo Bove collapsed on the pitch. Both teammates and opponents rushed to his side to help in anyway that they could. Il Fatto Quotidiano have reported that Bove is now conscious, with teammate David De Gea saying that the player “is feeling better.”

Elsewhere in the league Parma beat Lazio 3-1 after Lazio had a goal and a penalty rightfully disallowed. Bologna got the better of Venezia by three goals to nil as did Milan against Empoli. Como vs Monza and Lecce vs Juventus both ended up in 1-1 draws. While Genoa beat Udinese 2-0 thanks to Udinese going to ten men in only the fourth minute, and finally Cagliari beat Verona 1-0.

As Christman approaches the frequency of Serie A matches will pick up making this a crucial period to decide who will be lifting the trophy at the end of the season. It still remains all to play for.
