Tension in Meloni's government over Turin museum presidency

TURIN - Defence Minister Guido Crosetto and Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli have issued a joint statement denying rumoured disputes between the two about the reappointment of Evelina Christillin as president of the Egyptian Museum in Turin.
Il Foglio and La Stampa have recently reported on a fight between the two ministers, stemming from Giuli appointing Christillin as museum president without consulting Crosetto. Sources report Giuli running the decision past Andrea Delmastro instead - the Justice Undersecretary and known opposition to Crosetto.
Both Crosetto and Delmastro are from Piedmont, and so the former believes he had the right to know about the decision as well as Delmastro, considering they are from the same region.
It is suspected by various papers that the statement is the result of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's intervention, who reportedly received complaints from Crosetto about the decision when she was abroad in Argentina.
Sources have reported recent tensions between president Christillin and museum director Christian Greco. It is believed Crosetto objected to the decision over the phone to Giuli, declaring that 'Christillin detests us' and that he does not believe the reappointment will solve ongoing issues within the highly important cultural institution.
