Two Italians under investigation for collaborating with Russian intelligence

ROME - Two men are under investigation for providing Russia with sensitive information on security systems in Rome and Milan, police sources say.
The unnamed men are the subject of an investigation conducted by Carabinieri forces of Rome and Milan which was initiated last April, and suspects the men of receiving payment in cryptocurrency in return for mapping out the video surveillance systems in the two cities. In this way Russian intelligence could receive sensitive information on which areas of the cities are not covered by security cameras.
Investigators believe the suspects communicated with Russia via a telegram channel, and were also paid to take photos of military infrastructure, relay confidential documents and provide information on local specialists in electronic security and drone technology.
Police sources also report that the suspects designed a business plan where Milanese taxi companies would receive free dashcams, only for the footage from these cameras to be fed back to Russia, unbeknownst to the drivers.
