The Italian artist merging art and science under the Pyramids

ROME - Under the beating desert sun, Art D'Egypte unveils the installations that constitute this year's exhibiton, entitled Forever is Now. At the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Giza Plateau, in the shadow of three of Egypt's pyramids, 12 international artists are welcomed to share their work. One of these is Federica Di Carlo - a critically acclaimed Italian artist with a taste for merging science and art.

Di Carlo's installation is entitled I See I See, and allows the viewer to discover new perspectives on the world's wonders. A complex collection of lenses are arranged in the shape of a gigantic eye, and engage with the sharp light of the desert to give diverse images of the pyramid landscape. Specifically designed for the location in Giza, the large-scale installation combines themes of modernity and scienitific development with the ancient world and our heritage.

However, this is not Di Carlo's first time in the spotlight. The artist won the 10th annual Italian Council competition, and has received funding for this project from the Italian Ministery of Foreign Affairs amongst other artistic bodies.

I See I See, as part of Forever is Now, was unveiled on Oct. 24 2024, and remains on display in Giza until Nov. 16.
