ROME - Napoli have gone to the top of Serie A thanks to goals by Matteo Politano in the 22nd minute, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the 33rd minute in their match against Monza. The clean sheet also meant that the Partenopei have gone 388 minutes without conceding a goal, following three successive clean sheets - the first time the team has accomplished this since February 2023.

Despite this good run of form their manager, Antonio Conte, continues to play down their title chances. In an interview with DAZN Conte said that: “I always say there is an advantage that we can train the whole week, but the disadvantage is that our squad is not as competitive as those who play in Europe.” However, he insisted that his team will do their best to compete for the title: “I realise that a lot is expected of me, as I have done great things in the past. As I said, we can let the fans dream, but I have to keep my feet on the ground and realise there are teams ahead of us for many reasons. We are chasing them down and will try to do our best.”

Napoli’s next match is on Friday against Como who sit 9 places behind them in the league. Conte hopes that his team’s excellent run of form of will continue.
