Francesco Terrone receives 37th Procide Isola di Arturo Elsa Morante Poetry Prize

  ROME -- Engineer turned poet, Francesco Terrone, has won the 37th edition of the Procida Isola di Arturo Elsa Morante for his poetry collection L’urlo dell’innocenza (The Scream of Innocence). 

  The evening was organised by the Procida town council, with mayor Dr. Raimondo Ambrosino welcoming the award recipient and greeting the audience. The award was then presented to Terrone by the councillor of culture, Dr. Michele Assante del Leccese, who noted the cultural importance of L’urlo dell’innocenza. 

  The evening’s entertainment saw Terrone’s poetry recited by actor Antonio Speranza, accompanied by the Symphonic Italian Cinema Orchestra under the direction of Raffaele Iannicelli. Soprano Rossana Potenza and composer Carmine Padula also joined the performance. 

  Actor Noemi Gherrero presented the evening, which also featured Professor Carlo Di Lieto, a professor of Italian literature at the Suor Orsola Benincasa University of Naples. 

  L’urlo dell’innocenza, which explores themes of childhood, suffering, and innocence has been published in Italian, English, and Swedish. 

  The evening concluded with the organisers expressing their commitment to continuing cultural initiatives, with plans already in place for next year’s event.
