ROME – The Ambassador of Kosovo to Italy, H.E. Lendita Haxhitasim, and the Alderman for Culture, Miguel Gotor, presided over the inauguration in the name of Kosovo of a park in Rome’s Olympic Village, marking the first time any space in the Eternal City has been named after the Balkan nation, municipal officials said.

“Today I had the pleasure to participate, with the Kosovar Ambassador … in the ceremony of naming a park in the Olympic Village after Kosovo, the young Balkan state that until today had no public space in its name in our city.”

The naming of the square coincided with the 25th anniversary of Kosovo declaring its independence from the former Yugoslavia. Members of the Kosovar community in Rome attended the event, including some in traditional costume.

Ambassador Haxhitasim commented that “On our 25th Liberation Anniversary, Parco Kosovo is the symbol of peace and friendship and collaboration between our peoples and countries.”
