ROME -- The content of the new collaboration between Italo and Uber was presented in the Italo Club Lounge in Rome Termini: two companies that claim to place people at the centre of their services, to facilitate the movements of millions of travellers.

Italo passengers can thus plan their journey, from home to the train and from the train to their final destination, in an even simpler and more efficient way. A new multimodal solution, which enriches Italo's ancillary services platform with Uber's experience. An offer to cover the first and last stretch of the journey, which guarantees a dedicated transfer for those arriving at the station with an Italo train, without having to queue or wait for the availability of other solutions.

"Italo today represents the first intermodal group in Europe. We are expanding our multimodal network to offer complete solutions to our travellers", stated Gianbattista La Rocca, CEO of Italo. "An agreement that simplifies travel and makes it safer, eliminating waiting times outside stations."

The simplicity of the travel experience, combined with a strong commitment to increasingly sustainable mobility, is at the centre of everything we do", declared Lorenzo Pireddu, general director of Uber Italia.

"The collaboration with Italo represents a step in significant progress in making the journey to and from the stations of Milan and Rome easier, more convenient and more reliable. The integration of mobility services and the opportunity to access a wide range of options for moving around the city are just some of the advantages that passengers will be able to enjoy, thanks to this innovative collaboration."

The project first involves the cities of Rome and Milan (in this first phase), covering the stations of Roma Termini, Roma Tiburtina, Milano Centrale, Milano Rogoredo and Milano Rho Fiera. For all Italo customers departing or arriving at one of these stations, there will be the possibility to book, from 90 days before the trip up to 1 hour before the trip, an Uber Black or Van via the Uber Reserve function. It is already possible to book all services directly from the Italo or Uber apps (and website) and, in the coming months, the respective platforms will be fully integrated to offer ever more benefits to users.

A further step to satisfy the demand for mobility, just think that in the month of May alone the requests from national and international users of the Uber app, to and from the stations of Milan and Rome, grew by 42 per cent compared to the same period of last year. In fact, trips to the stations of Milan and Rome represent over 5 per cent of the total trips in the two cities, a number that should grow during the summer thanks to the high tourist flow and the movement of citizens from the cities to the various places of holiday.

“An innovative agreement not only from a mobility point of view, but also technologically advanced” specified Dora Bonadies, Head of Network & Market Development at Italo. “The two platforms, in fact, will communicate with each other, making booking quick and easy for users. Travelers will be able to book from digital channels, without having to enter information such as station and departure or arrival times, with a simple click."

For all Italo customers who register for the first time on the Uber app and use the service in Rome and Milan stations, there is a 50 per cent promotion on the first 3 trips.
