Palazzo delle Esposizioni to show 'Aalto' by Virpi Suutari

 ROME - Organized by the Finnish Embassy in Rome on June 17, the screening of the documentary "Aalto" by Virpi Suutari will take place at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni as part of the exhibition "Roma, a portrait. Festival of Foreign Academies and Institutes of Culture in Rome.”

 "Aalto" illustrates an itinerary in the life and work of one of the greatest contemporary architects, Alvar Aalto. The film tells for the first time the intimate love story between Alvar and his first wife, also an architect, Aino Aalto, and guides us in the creative process and in their iconic buildings scattered all over the world: the wonderful palaces in Finland , a bookstore in Russia, the MIT student dormitory, a private art gallery near Paris, and many other unique places.

 Combining entertainment and knowledge, contemporary footage with rare archival material, we are guided through the private and professional life of an artist who, with his vision, then Influenced the world of contemporary architecture.

 Virpi Suutari was born on in Rovaniemi, Finland. She is known as a director and screenwriter.

 The Festival of Foreign Academies and Institutes of Culture is being curated by Cecilia Canziani with Francesca Campana and Giulia Gaibisso which intends to transform the museum, on an annual basis, into a privileged observatory on the visions and research of artists and scholars foreigners who spend a period of residence in Rome every year, guests of the Academies and Cultural Institutes.
