Qatargate, EU withdraws immunity to two MEPs related to the scandal
Brussels - European Union will officially withdraw on January 16th parliamentary immunity, as internal sources anticipated, to Colizzo and Tarabella MEPs of the European center-left wings who are allegedly involved in the Qatargate.
Belgian judiciary requested the European Union to withdraw parliamentary immunity, according to internal sources, to Andrea Cozzolino, a member of the democratic party, and Marc Tarabella a member of the Belgian Socialist party, and of Article One ( the same as Antonio Panzeri, one of the first to be investigated in the scandals) lately called out by the Qatargate files as “friends” of the organization said the witnesses to the judge Michel Claise, who is in charge of the investigation.
Roberta Metsola, president of the European Parliament, launched an emergency procedure for waiving parliamentary immunity. The names will be officially communicated on January 16th, at the opening of the plenary.
Date in which Metsola will also unveil its reform proposals in the coming weeks, including a review of current rules and improvements to internal systems.
