Competition opens for the best Italian olive oil

PERUGIA - Registration has opened for the 29th edition of the prestigious Hercules Olive Oil award, closing on Feb. 4, 2021.

The award was created to celebrate the greatest oils produced using Italian olives, and is organised by the Italian Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Craft and Agriculture, in collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce in Perugia, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry and the Ministry of Economic Development.

110 oils will make it from the regional selections to the national competition, from April 12 to 16 in Umbria, and those who score over 75/100 will earn the coveted ‘Tempietto di Ercole Olivario’, and will compete to win one of the special categories. The competition this year will include two new categories; the special mention for female businesses, and the special mention for the best digital businesses, and the returning awards include those for the best ‘Olio Biologico’ and ‘Olio Monocultivar’.

The jury is made up of 16 experts from around the country and will be headed by Alfredo Marascuilo.
