ROME — Italy banned all flights to and from the UK as of midnight Sunday after British authorities introduced measures to combat a new fast-spreading variant of Covid-19, health minister Roberto Speranza said. The ban will remain in place until Jan. 6 while Italian scientists study the new variant of coronavirus, the minister said. A number of other EU countries have introduced similar bans. jp
