Eight arrested for allegedly aiding illegal immigration

TURIN – The Carabinieri of Turin are carrying out arrests of eight people on charges of aiding illegal immigration and illegal stay in the national territory, police sources said on Tuesday.

According to Carabinieri, six foreign citizens and two Italians took money to host illegal immigrants, including minors, from Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, and subsequently accompany them in a vehicle across the French or Austrian border via the Montegèvre and Brenner mountain passes.

The arrests are part of an investigation that has already seen 67 people reported and seven others arrested for the same crimes.
