Ronaldo tests positive for Covid
ROME - High-profile soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo is in quarantine after testing positive for Covid, the Portuguese Football Federation said on Tuesday.
The Portugal and Juventus striker is self-isolating and is not showing symptoms, the federation said in a statement.
“Ronaldo is going great. He is dealing very well with this,” Portugal coach Fernando Santos said. “He is asymptomatic, he has no problems. He doesn’t even know how this happened to him.”
The federation said Ronaldo’s teammates underwent new tests on Tuesday and returned negative results.
Ronaldo is the third Portugal player to test positive – Jose Fonte and Anthony Lopes returned positive test results last week.
Ten-days in isolation will take Ronaldo to Oct. 23.
This rules him out of Jeventus’ Serie A game against Crotone on Oct. 17 and casts doubts over whether he will be available to play in the clash between Juventus and Barcelona on Oct. 28.
