ROME -- Kuwait's new Ambassador to Italy, H.E. Sheikh Azzam Mubarak Sabah Al-Sabah, had a meeting with the Italian Senate President, Elisabetta Casellati, Senate officials said. During the meeting the Kuwaiti Ambassador made a gift of a model of a traditional Kuwaiti Dhow sailing vessel to the head of the Upper House.

The Kuwaiti Ambassador, formerly the Ambassador of the Gulf state to Bahrain and a member of the Kuwaiti royal family, presented his credentials to Italian President, Sergio Mattrella, in September at the Quirinal Palace. Kuwait is an important trading partner for Italy and the Sheikh is meeting top officials with whom he will be discussing in coming months ways of increasing cooperation between the two countries, diplomatic sources say.
