Run for Peace raises money for charity

ROME – The Run for Peace is helping to fund charity work in aid of the victims of domestic violence.

The Run for Peace, a non-competitive 5km run, happens alongside the Rome Half Marathon Via Pacis on September 22.  The Italian branch of the international non-governmental organisation SOS Children’s Villages will be the social partner of the Run for Peace.

Part of the €10 entry fee will go to help children and mothers who are victims of domestic violence, through the “Violence is not a game” awareness campaign, and in support of the “Mother and Child” project, which offers welcome and support to mothers and children who are victims of domestic abuse.

It is possible to run or walk the course of the run, which aims to promote the message of peace, non-violence, integration and sharing.

SOS Children’s Villages will have an information point near to the Rome Half Marathon village, at the Casa delle Armi on Viale dei Gladiatori.  The Rome Half Marathon is promoted by the Municipality of Rome, the Pontifical Council for Culture and the Italian Athletics Federation, with whom SOS Children’s Villages collaborated last year.
