CUNEO – Two British men are dead after two planes collided mid-air Wednesday over the Italian-French alpine border, Italian news agency ANSA reports.

Both planes had taken off from the Barcelonnette/Saint-Pons airport, crashing at around 12:45 p.m. in the skies between Larche and Batterie de Viraysse in the Haute-Provence region of France bordering the Italian province of Cuneo.

Three people were involved in the accident that killed the two British citizens, aged 18 and 37, and injured the pilot of the other aircraft, also believed to be British.
