A new year, and a new fan for the foreign press

ROME - An informal ceremony was recently held at the headquarters of the Association of Foreign Press in Italy in Rome (ASEI) presenting its new 'fan', a summary of the foreign publications whose correspondents are based in Italy.

The new fan is an update of its 1992 edition, has about 240 logos and contains a tribute to imprisoned and harassed journalists in various countries at the base.

The simple ceremony was defined as a historic moment for the Association by its president, Ms. Esma Çakır, who, in agreement with the board of directors, decided to update the Foreign Press icon, a symbol of many press conferences and meetings.

The official unveiling of the panel, an analogy of the classic cut of a ribbon, was carried out by the president herself, in the presence of the councilor Gustav Hofer who had played a role in developing the new graphics

It was time to refresh the symbol, given that many media organisations shown in the original no longer have representation in Italy, and many other new correspondents, now about 400, have been added since 1992. Among these, LaRondine.fi, (the Swallow) a Finnish newsmagazine in Italian language based in Helsinki since 2002, has taken its place in the official image of the Foreign Press.
