Feltrinelli publishing queen dies

ROME – German photographer and publisher Inge Feltrinelli has died at age 87, official sources said on Thursday.

 A naturalized Italian born in Germany to Jewish parents, she started her career as photographer, later marrying left-wing publisher Giangiacomo Feltrinelli. She took over management of the publishing giant Feltrinelli after her husband’s death in 1972.

 CEO of Feltrinelli group Roberto Ravellino, the board of directors and all staff have expressed their condolences to the family.

 “Today Inge Feltrinelli leaves us. We would like to share this sad moment with all our readers keeping in mind the positive direction she set us in – in all forms and with all our energies” said Feltrinelli group in a press statement.

 A woman who wanted to change the world with books, “an authentic volcano of ideas, curiosity and kindness” as remembered by Israeli journalist and intellectual Amos Oz.
