Mother throws her 3-year-old daughter from terrace

TEVISO – A mother has been arrested after she threw her 3-year-old daughter from the terrace of her home in Mogliano Veneto, police officials say.

The incident ironically occurred on “Mother’s Day”, which was celebrated on Sunday by families across Italy.

The girl, who was thrown from the second floor of her home, was admitted to the Ca’ Foncello hospital in Treviso, where she is slowly recovering. Her condition is not life threatening.

The episode could have ended in tragedy if the toddler had not landed on grass.

During the interrogation, Investigators and carabinieri from Mogliano and Treviso were reportedly not convinced by the mother’s version of events, after she repeatedly contradicted herself and showed signs of nervousness.

A neighbour allegedly made the phone call at 1 p.m. to the Treviso Emergency Services, after they saw the little girl fly from the terrace crying and screaming “daddy”.

An ambulance and helicopter arrived at the scene promptly after the 118 call was made.

The mother, who has "mental problems", was then arrested on Monday for attempted murder of her daughter after a long interrogation with police investigators.
