Gunman opens fire on migrants, wounding six

Luca Traini wrapped in the Italian flag
MACERATA -- A neo-fascist sympathiser firing from a speeding car shot and wounded as many as  six coloured migrants Saturday in this normally peaceful city in the Marche region, in what police sources said was a vendetta rampage for the murder of an Italian woman by a Nigerian immigrant, police said.
When police arrested Luca Traini, 28, he had draped himseld with an Italian tricolour flag and gave officers a straight-armed fascist salute, saying "Viva Italia."
Traini apparently flipped out over the slaying of Pamela Mastropietro, a Roman teenager who was chopped into pieces that were stashed in two suitcases in a case that shocked Italy. A Nigerian, Innocent Oseghale, was arrested for the woman's murder last week.
While running amock Traini also fired his pistol at the local office of the left-wing Democratic Party, police said.
The incident was sure to fuel controversy over the anti-migrant policies being flouted across the political spectrum on the peninsuia as the campaign for a March general election heats up, pundits said.
