Shakespeare at Silvano Toti Globe Theatre
ROME - Much Ado about Nothing is being performed from Monday to Friday at the Silvano Toti Globe Theatre in Ville Borghese by the Bedouin Shakespeare Company. The production, directed by Chris Pickles, is an attempt to bring new light onto this old work.
Much Ado is a very fitting play to be performed in one of Rome’s most beautiful settings, taking place in Messina and following the misadventures of Italian nobles and the romantic foibles of cocky young guys and standoffish girls. It is also one of Shakespeare’s most accessible plays with the timeless theme of young love and the easily understood prose style, a world away from the complexity of King Lear.
