NAPLES - The Carabinieri police have detained three boys, all minors, in relation to the rape of a 16 year-old girl in Naples. The suspects have been taken to juvenile detention centres. In the next few hours, the boys will be able to provide their version of events.

 Reportedly, the young girl was assaulted four months ago on the seaside at Marechiaro, Naples. According to sources, the girl was only able to tell her mother recently what had happened, and was able to show her mother photos on Facebook of the boys she believed to have carried out the attack. The newspaper Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno reports the girl as saying “I trusted them, they seemed like well-behaved boys.”

 Investigators have been collecting evidence since the attack, and it appears that a breakthrough has been made from this which led to the arrests on Thursday.
