Gloria’s body found in Grenfell Tower

Gloria and Marco

PADOVA - Maria Cristina Sandrin, Gloria Trevisan’s family lawyer, has disclosed to the press “It’s now official, Gloria’s body has been found”. The 27 year old Italian architect was believed to have perished in the Grenfell Tower fire, but no remains had been discovered until now.

“The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had contacted the family on June 23 because the body had been identified through the dentures” continues the lawyer. However, Gloria’s long-term boyfriend Marco, who was with her when the blaze hit the tower block, has not yet been identified amidst the rubble.  "The reluctance of relatives to spread the news was due to the desire to wait for Marco's body to be found again."

According to Sandrin, “unfortunately the identification of the remains of the young man will take longer; for him it is not possible to use dental implants, we will have to wait for DNA examination.

In recent days, Marco’s family members have sent several of his personal items such as his toothbrush and gym bag in the hope that the lab will find the DNA to compare with what is left inside the tower.

“The families are doing all the efforts in their power because their wish was for them to return to Italy together, but they can not do more than that.” Gloria’s body, which was found inside the apartment, is still in London for the time being.

The last words Gloria spoke to her family were on the phone, trapped in her flat: “I am so sorry I can never hug you again. I had my whole life ahead of me. It’s not fair. I don’t want to die. I wanted to help you, to thank you for all you did for me,” reported Italian newspaper La Repubblica. “I am about to go to heaven, I will help you from there.”
