Football chairman busted in police raid

Catanzaro Football Club

REGGIO CALABRIA-- The Chairman of the Catanzaro Football Club, Giuseppe Cosentino was being subjected to supervision measures after a raid conducted by the Italian finance guard on Monday morning revealed his involvement in a money-laundering scheme.

An investigation conducted by the public prosecutor of Palmi, Ottavio Sferlazza, found that Cosentino, along with at least three others, including his daughter Ambra, had been stashing away money in Swiss banks. The scandal came to light on Monday morning, with Costentino and his cronies allegedly committing a constellation of fiscal crimes, including money laundering, fraudulent money transfers, and embezzlement.

The finance guard has imposed these supervision measures on eight people so far who are suspected to be involved in the plot, and they have seized four million euros as a precautionary measure.
