Juventus seal sixth straight Serie A title

TURIN—Juventus have won their sixth successive ‘Scudetto’ title after they beat Crotone 3-0 at the J Stadium to continue their hopes of a 2017 treble. Mario Mandzukic, Paolo Dybala, and Alex Sandro were all on target, meaning the party can officially begin in Turin.

Croatian Mandzukic, celebrating his 31st birthday, converted Juan Cuadrado’s cross on 12 minutes to give the reigning Italian champions the early lead.

Their lead was doubled when wonderkid, Paolo Dybala, curled home a free-kick just before half-time, as the Juventus crowd began to sense that today could be the day that all doubts were removed.

The Bianconeri could have sealed the title last week, but lost 3-1 to second placed Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

However, on this occasion there could be no stopping them and Alex Sandro added to the festivities on the 83rd minute, condemning struggling Crotone to a 3-0 defeat.

The result leaves Crotone one point behind Empoli in the relegation zone, as they face a tough test against Lazio next week in a last bid for survival.

Juventus, who beat Lazio 2-0 in the final of the Coppa Italia Wesnesday, can become the second Italian team in history to win the treble if they beat Real Madrid in the Champions League final June 3.
