New art week lights up Milan

Miart 2017 will take place from March 31 until April 2

MILAN-- Miart 2017, the 22nd edition of the Milan international modern and contemporary art show organised by Fiera Milano and directed for the first time by Alessandro Rabottini, Deputy Director in 2016, has been just presented in Milan. A new edition that consolidates the important results achieved in the last four years and which is enriched with a new-look format and increasingly prestigious visitors and collaborations.

From 31 March to 2 April the pavilions of fieramilanocity will welcome 174 international galleries from 14 Countries and over 60 curators and museum directors from all over the world involved in the show sections, on the juries of the 6 prizes and in the talks.

For the first time, BIT Milano, the International Tourism Exchange, will open to the public in conjunction with miart, on Sunday, April 2. What's more is that miart visitors will be able to use the same ticket to visit Bit 2017 free of charge. This initiative serves to strengthen the increasingly close ties between art and tourism. Tradition and artistic heritage are no longer the exclusive prerogative of cultural tourism, which is becoming increasingly linked to contemporary art. The latter is going from an elitist experience for the experts to a more popular experience aimed at a qualified audience. The increasing number of people who visit contemporary art festivals demonstrates how art has become a growth driver for the new luxury tourists
