Gina Lollobrigida hospitalised with pneumonia

 ROME –  Italian screen godess Gina Lollobrigida, once dubbed the world’s most beautiful woman,  has been hospitalised with pneumonia at the town of Trigoria, Il Messaggero newspaper reported Friday.

 Ms Lollobrigida, now aged 89 and an iconic sex symbol star of movies such as “Bread, love and fantasy” in the 1950s and 60s, began her career in 1945 with an appearance in the comic film Santarellina directed by Eduardo Scarpetta.

 She was born in the town of Subiaco near Rome July 4, 1927, and for much of her life was locked in competiton with rival actress Sophia Loren.
