Five Star Movement women mayors come out on top

High satisfaction levels for mayors of Rome and Turin

ROME -- Women mayors of Rome and Turin from Five Star Movement Party appear to have enjoyed solid popularity, just over three months after taking office, according to a new opinion poll released Friday.

As many as 45 percent of Italians have said they have faith in Virginia Raggi and the Five Star Movement. The poll, carried out by Nicola Piepoli, also reveals that the new mayor of Turin, Chiara Appendino, obtained a record 64 percent of favourable opinion “across the board.”

Regarding the level of public satisfaction for the respective women leaders, 42 percent of poll participants claimed they rather, or even very much, like the mayor of the Eternal City, whilst Ms Appendino gained an impressive 56 percent.

With respect to the section which Piepoli calls ‘level of humanity’, Ms Raggi obtained 49 percent while the Turin mayor 59 percent.

The surveyor noted, “Raggi’s results in general surpass the average results a mayor would typically receive after the first 100 days of honeymoon period.”

The headstrong leader, who just recently said ‘no’ to the Olympics 2024 in Rome, also passed a poll carried out by the institution ‘Ixè’ with flying colours, as the average satisfaction level for the Five Star Movement Party -- on a scale from zero to 10 -- came out at 6.8.
