Italian missionary injured in Bangladesh

The missionary is in a stable condition

DHAKA - An Italian missionary has been injured in Bangladesh, when assailants opened fire on him as he was riding his bike, local media in Bangladesh reported.

He was hit by bullets to the head that were fired by strangers.

Piero Parolari, a 50-year-old missionary priest who is also a doctor, works in the city of Dinajpur, in the north of the country.

Bangladesh's The Daily Star quoted hospital sources as saying Parolari was out of danger.

However, this isn’t the first time a foreigner has been killed in Bangladesh this year: both an Italian aid worker and a Japanese agricultural worker were murdered in Bangladesh earlier this year.

Parolari, originally a doctor from Lecco, has been working in Bangladesh for over 30 years.
