Remembrance Day Ceremony

The War Graves Cemetery in Testaccio

ROME — A Remembrance Day Ceremony will take place on Nov. 11 at 10:45 a.m. (silence at 11:00 a.m.) at the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery in Via Nicola Zabaglia, Testaccio.

The proceedings commemorating the lives of the war dead are conducted by priests and ministers. A two minute silence is then observed, followed by the tradition of laying red poppy wreaths by officials from Commonwealth embassies to honour those countries, which served during the wars.

This is a particularly poignant year for this ceremony, as this is the 100th anniversary of when Italy entered the First World War. There will likely be mention of this during the service.
