Site-specific performances of Hofesh Shechter in November

The project is a collaboration between the Maramotti Collection, Max Mara and The Foundation of Theatres

REGGIO EMILIA — The project Hofesh Shechter, which is included in the calendar of the Open Festival of 2015, is a collaboration between the Maramotti Collection, Max Mara and The Foundation of Theatres and provides a unique site-specific performance in the areas of collection (Nov. 3 to 5 - four reruns) and an Italian premiere of the show deGeneration at the Teatro Cavallerizza (Nov. 7 to 8).

The synergy between these three parties began in 2009 with the involvement of the Trisha Brown Dance Company and it has aimed to revive a dialogue between visual art and dance education.

The show deGeneration consists of three parts: Cult (2004) and Fragments (2003), two of the lesser known works of Shechter, as well as the award-winning Disappearing Act (2015).

The main themes of Cult (2004) are the power games within society and the struggles they produce. Fragments (2003) is a duet that explores the intimate relationship between a man and a woman, alternating between seriousness and irony, power games and seduction, pragmatism and sensuality. Disappearing Act (2015) takes up the motifs of the two earlier pieces in a more collective momentum based on a creation of 2012, which has been specially adapted to and inspired by the young performers of the newly formed Junior Shechter.
