Daughter of Vittorio Casamonica compares her father to the Pope

Vittorio Casamonica or Pope Francis?

ROME — In a conversation with Bruno Vespa yesterday evening, the daughter of Vittorio Casamonica, Vera, compared her father to Pope Francis. “I called him ‘Pope’ because he was very good, like Pope Francis.” She has also compared him to the late Pope John Paul II.

In a photo on the wall of the Don Bosco church, her father is depicted dressed in white, with a cross around his neck, but Vera jumped to defend him. “He isn’t dressed like the Pope. He had blue trousers on, even if you cannot see them. Maybe you have misinterpreted the image.”

“If I had the choice, I would redo the funeral exactly how it was done” she said “even with the helicopter and rose petals.” And regarding the choice of music from the film ‘The Godfather’, she said “My father liked this film and the song, and all we were doing was honouring his request.”

During the conversation, Vera highlighted several times that her father “wasn’t a Mafia boss.” However, Bruno Vespa was quick to remind her of the previous crimes of the head of the family, including receiving stolen goods and extortion. “I’m not interested in what the other members of the Casamonica family are doing in Rome” she said. “I can’t take on the crimes of others.”
