Evening celebrating John Keats
ROME -- On Thursday September 24 at 6:30 p.m, the British author Ruth Padel will be hosting an evening celebrating romantic poet John Keats at the Keats-Shelley House in the Piazza di Spagna. The evening will consist of both her own poems and ones written by Keats himself, along with talks about the influence of Keats on herself and others who write poetry.
Padel is a British poet, novelist and non-fiction author. She broadcasts for BBC Radio 4 on the topics of poetry, wildlife, and music, whilst also being on the Board of the Zoological Society of London. In 1996, she won the UK National Poetry Competition, and her most recent collection Learning to Make an Oud in Nazareth was shortlisted for the 2014 T S Eliot Prize. She teaches Creative Writing at King’s College London.
